Does that represent some record? Four silent letters in a word, or 80% of its letters?

Well, in French, the T in "et" is always silent. And in "est" the S is always silent and the T is usually silent (making the word identical to "et") - and when it IS pronounced, it moves to another syllable.

I'm talking two- and three-letter words, versus 5-letter. So make of it what you will.
