This guy did what we've discussed here a few times. He booked a flight with layovers, and left the flight at the layover because that's where he really wanted to go but it was cheaper to book the flight through to another destination. Lufthansa says he owes them a lot of money. So far the courts say "no", but they're appealing.

The man used a method to book his multistop trip that's known as "hidden city" ticketing — where travelers find layover cities on an airliner's route that are cheaper than a direct flight from one city to another.

The court ruled that Lufthansa's contract terms lack transparency and can't be used to recalculate airfare in a case such as this. By contrast, the court said, the airline's method of calculating its initial price is "completely intransparent."


I hope Lufthansa loses badly, and even has to pay the man's legal expenses. Maybe it will affect how they calculate fares, and provide transparency.
