Several years ago my wife and I had the old shingles shot. Last year our doctor recommended that we get the new shot. We got ourselves on the waiting list and finally got both shots. My only reaction to the second shot was a sore arm for a day or two. It is a larger shot than the first so the pharmacist said it was just intramuscular pain. The discomfort was immediate.

My wife who reacts to most shots had soreness from the first one. On the second she had both the arm soreness and flu-like symptoms for a day minus any fever.

3 or 4 years ago my brother got shingles on his face. At some point he will need a corneal transplant because it affected eye.
