"On a retirement INVESTMENT board?

I sure there is a more germane place to have an endless, and pointless, debate about which system is best and where by which no one is educated about retirement investing. "

A couple reasons come to mind -
1) retirement investing is impacted by retirement costs - which
are impacted by healthcare needs as well as by how much of your
retirement funds are stolen by the various governing bodies that
might feel you are ripe pickings.

2) the discussion brings up potential investment aspects of healthcare
businesses - assisted living facilities and REITs of the same, hospital
facilities and such, the insurance companies that try to sell you the
bill of goods and so on.

3) the discussion reveals as aspect of risk in investing in healthcare
providers. Nationalization of healthcare could destroy the retirement
basis of folks who are heavily in big pharma and such areas.

4) the discussion brings up potential for the government to funnel more
business to the insurance industry - which is exactly what Medicare as a
program has done.

All discussions - even the ones that don't come to any conclusion - have
aspects that you can use to think about investment decisions.
