Anything which adjusts with inflation, such as real estate, would be a good investment. Anything which provides a fixed return, such as bonds, bad.

If you can successfully time any aspect of the market, such as interest rate changes means you can quickly make a fortune by using leverage, however, get it wrong and you can quickly lose a larger fortune.

For most people timing the market doesn't help.
