BC has decided to go with vax-passports for all activities that are not essential: restaurant, bars, events, gyms, etc - Grocery stores etc are essential so there will not be a need for a proof of vaccination.

BC's population 12+: 75% are fully vaxxed and 83/84% have at least 1 dose.

As the president of the BC Restaurant Association who is very supportive of the vax-passports summed up: (paraphrased) we need to break the cycle of Covid infections; wearing masks and getting fully vaxxed are the best ways to do so - and he figures more people will be going to restaurants if they know that everyone is fully vaccinated in the restaurant.

Starting Sept 13 - proof of 1-dose is necessary and by October 24 proof of 2-dose will be necessary. This is a temporary measure till January 2022 when the BC Public Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, will reexamine. (She has been brilliant all through the pandemic. Even the NY Times did a piece on her last year.)

I agree with the non-essential vax-passports. To people who whine about 'freedom' etc - this is not about freedom it is about not being selfish 'p-o-s' who only care about themselves and don't believe they owe society or anyone else anything. Besides: no shirt, no shoes, no vax (=no brain cells), no service.

P.S. Yes, the Delta variant (and Lambda etc) is a problem but hospitalizations and death numbers are still dropping overall among the fully vaccinated and if the spreading rate drops etc, maybe by January it will be a thing of the past.

P.P.S. I would like to see hospitals start saying no to admitting the people who don't vaccinate. They don't believe in science and medicine but run to the hospitals when they get infected. And all the idiots who say: I don't know what is in the vaccine and it is not going to go into my body. Well, you don't know what is in a twinkie and you still eat it. Freaking idiots are the ones who are stalling the country from fully re-opening.
