Florida governor Ron DeSantis complained today that "Without a shred of clinical data to support its decision, the Biden Administration has revoked the emergency use authorization for lifesaving monoclonal antibody treatments."

From Regeneron:

Although RENGEN-COV antibody worked well against Delta, "it does not work against the Omicron variant in lab tests, which tells us it is also not going to work in people who are infected with this variant. According to the CDC, over 99% of COVID-19 cases in the U.S. are now caused by the Omicron variant, and thus the FDA's decision to amend the Emergency Use Authorization was appropriate at this time."

From Lilly:

Lilly and the FDA agree that it is not medically appropriate, at this time, to treat patients with mild to moderate COVID-19 with bamlanivimab and etesevimab together in the U.S. Evaluation of both pseudovirus and authentic virus confirm that they are not effective at treating the current predominant Omicron variant.

In short, #DeathSantis does not know what he's talking about... or, it's Tuesday.
