I heard the other day that the daughter of a friend of mine is pregnant. Her husband and she are very happy.Five years ago, they wouldnt have dared to do this. She carried a genetically inherited propensity to polycysitic disease - I think it is elephant man's disease. So the doctors took some of her eggs and genetically tested them for this. They fertilized only those eggs with the absense of this gene - I don't know or understand the particulars. They did it with her husband's sperm of course. So now their kid will not have this gene. The sequencing of the human genome didnt make us much money. But it brought forth something much more valuable.I still own about 50 shares, for old times sake.Ed
