A complaint letter officially puts them on notice. Calls do not. Even if you think your call was successful, it should always be followed up with a letter.

Ordinarily, I would agree, but I KNOW my call was successful, because the change WAS made by Tuesday, as I had demanded.

I don't think the folks there wanted a letter of the type I was threatening to write going to the Times or to the SEC, either.

I try a call first. If that doesn't work, THEN I write!
