I've been looking for stable income with minimum volatility and preferred stocks seem to fit the bill. I'm staying away from the high yield, high volatility issues. Here's a couple of attractive issues I've found

Maiden Holdings Preferred A (trades under MHNA or MHPRA) yielding 7.77% according to Morningstar. Maiden is a solid insurance company which I own shares in. I recommend their regular stock also (MHLD), which pays 3.39%.

Northstar Realty Preferred (NRF-PA or NRFPRA), yielding 9.53% according to Morningstar. A little more risky, but more yield.
