A couple of side notes.

Dual meets between two teams start with a random weight class and then go up. So for example, 145 might be chosen and then you go up in weight class until the heavyweights wrestle. After that you circle back around to the 106s. That means that in most meets, FirstLock wrestles after the heavyweight class. There is a table where the wrestlers check in before their match. So often FirstLock is lined-up next to the heavyweight wrestler who is a foot and a half taller and weighs more than twice as much.

Weight classes go up by two pounds this weekend. You can wrestle at 106 if you weigh 108 or less and have made the 106 weight class at least one time prior. This is to allow the high school kids room to grow. They really do try to keep a good eye on the kids weight and try to keep them from doing drastic things to make weight. However, seeing a group of high school wrestlers eat after they have made weight can be an amazing sight. Also the snack bar at meets and tourneys will often slash prices at the end of the meet to clear things out. We keep a cooler of healthy food on hand to combat this whenever possible. Mrs. Lock brought in a bag of clementines for the cooler. At the end of the meet FirstLock came out with one and told his Mom that these are great and she should buy some.
