I've noticed companies recycling old commercials lately. Maybe it's just seasonal and I never noticed it before. But I just saw a Rice Krispies commercial that is at least 10 years old, I remember watching it when I was a wee lad. A cheap way to cut back on advertising costs?

Also, my dad recently put an apartment up for rent, 2BR upper floor in a Victorian. Beautiful, big, nice area, close to the city, asking $950, getting very few calls. The place is such a steal, he has no idea how much it is worth. Last year anyway, he coulda got $1200 easy for it. Now he is having trouble getting $950.

(I'm gonna grab it, I only told him it was a steal after he agreed to rent it to me, lol)

I am seeing more and more For Sale and For Rent signs just driving around town. A friend of mine is working out which kind of re-fi he should do on his mortgage and is considering selling now because he is worried the prices will be too low in 5 years. I wonder if his worry is unique?

Market Street in SF is not the same place it used to be. Not quite a ghost town but I don't have to weave my way around anymore. I think people are leaving California.

I hope so, anyway.

I think people are leaving California.

My brother's been at Quantico, VA, for some training but will be returning to San Diego and then Los Angeles in December...and heh, if all the people leave then property values will go down, bad news for folks like your Dad.

Luckily he has no intention of selling, he bot in the 1970s at ridiculous prices compared to today.

In fact, I have a feeling that he is not in the minority, having bought property here early and having most of his mortgages paid off. (he buys in Florida now where it's not astronomical, wouldn't think of buying in CA now) I'm starting to think the real estate bubble burst will be rather short lived here in CA, because of this. Sure the dotcommers will have to sell at terrible prices but in the end, California is the place to be. The West is the Best.

That's why there's so many frickin people here. I'm becoming anti-social from driving on the freeway and I avoid rush hour like the plague. I'm just hoping the population drops to levels that the infrastructure can support, because it ain't there right now.

For 10 points and without using Google, what is the title of the album where that quote was originally recorded?

just lurking to keep up with thoughts here after seeing so many recent gaps...

Can't help mentioning that I haven't seen so many for sale or rent signs as in, and within 50 miles [west and south of] Cancun last Spring.

This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end

Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end
No safety or surprise, the end
I'll never look into your eyes...again

Can you picture what will be
So limitless and free
Desperately in need...of some...stranger's hand
In a...desperate land

Lost in a Roman...wilderness of pain
And all the children are insane
All the children are insane
Waiting for the summer rain, yeah

There's danger on the edge of town
Ride the King's highway, baby
Weird scenes inside the gold mine
Ride the highway west, baby

Ride the snake, ride the snake
To the lake, the ancient lake, baby
The snake is long, seven miles
Ride the snake...he's old, and his skin is cold

The west is the best
The west is the best
Get here, and we'll do the rest

The blue bus is callin' us
The blue bus is callin' us
Driver, where you taken' us

The killer awoke before dawn, he put his boots on
He took a face from the ancient gallery
And he walked on down the hall
He went into the room where his sister lived, and...then he
Paid a visit to his brother, and then he
He walked on down the hall, and
And he came to a door...and he looked inside
Father, yes son, I want to kill you
Mother...I want to...~!@#$%^&*()

C'mon baby, take a chance with us
C'mon baby, take a chance with us
C'mon baby, take a chance with us
And meet me at the back of the blue bus
Doin' a blue rock
On a blue bus
Doin' a blue rock
C'mon, yeah

Kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill

This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end

It hurts to set you free
But you'll never follow me
The end of laughter and soft lies
The end of nights we tried to die

This is the end
