I happened to look at Michael Kitces new "XY Planning Network" and clicked on the "Select Advisor Specialties" tab, expecting to see Retirement, Tax, Estate Planning, etc.

Instead I get "Faith Focused" planning, "Gender/Indentity" planning -- there's even Hobby-based planners. Don't people know money is fungible?

Actually, my in-laws had a reasonably successful investment through Thrivent Funds which
was related to their Lutheran Church sect. They lived long and prospered as ex-farmers,
ex-milkman, ex-librarian, ex-janitor.

Sometimes the problems with an investment plan has more to do with the investor's actions
or in-actions more than the source of the planner.

However, the historical perspective of TMF was always to teach yourself to manage your own affairs.
I am not certain that perspective holds true today.
