A Gorilla has control of it's niche because of a discontinuous innovation (not compatible with systems already in place). The market is growing very fast and they are in control because of high switching costs to a different product.

A King is a market leader with a huge lead in market share but doesn't have control of the architecture so customers can switch to a different product easier.

A Ruler Maker could be a Gorilla or a King or even lower in the order (though the best ones will be Gs or Ks).
