A lot of things can "slow down" your system. If your getting a slow bootup, you may have too much in your startup.

Simple solution:

run: msconfig

from there, choose startup and uncheck any programs that are not necessary at startup.

Also...NEVER have programs run in the background!!!!!!
If you have a Norton program that asks you about running in the background, choose NO! Either run it when you'er ready, or set up the Scheduler to run it.

That should speed up some problems.
