Every year about this time Faith wants us to take a small vacation. Not sure why. May have something to do with my birthday.

This year we went to Palm Springs. She indulged me a visit to the Air Museum there. Good collection of aircraft since before WW-2 including a B-17.

The main attraction of this trip was a tour of Sunnylands, the home of the Annenbergs. Admission is by a ticket and they are free but hard to get - she had to try several times to nab one before they were all taken. Almost like a lottery.

These folks give breadth and depth to the concept of rich. Starting with a small newspaper, he founded 17 magazine and TV Weekly. Sold in the course of time to Rupert Murdoch of FOX fame for several billion.

If you like mid-century modern architecture, this place is a must see. MSM on an unlimited budget. Just about every president since Eisenhower has been a guest there. (Exception: The present one.) With the Annenbergs being dead, I'm not sure they have stay-over guests any more. Obama was there. I think the estate governance can do what they want with it.
