For the first time US deaths from opioid use top those of car accidents

1 in 103 chance of dying in a car accident 1 in 96 change of dying from opioids

Last year congress passed a $1bn funding bill targeted at opioids. A nice start but it represents only $295 per death(based on population of 325m). $295 would not buy you a month of treatment in most rehab centers. A real national emergency right on your own back porch.

So where is our great leadership? Locked in a childish squabble about a wall that has no impact on this crisis. No wonder people feel so desolate that they take solace elsewhere. Shame on all you you who were elected to lead.
