Yesterday evening, I arrive home from work and there is a box on the front porch. I bring it inside but don't open it until my wife gets home since it is my birthday soon. She opens it and find an XBox360 in it. She says she didn't order it and I know I didn't order it. The mailing label and inside shipping receipt has my name and address on it. It was shipped from the Microsoft Store.

I call Microsoft. I tell them that nobody ordered this XBox. I tell the customer service guy that there are two charges on my credit card to their store. He takes all my information. During the process, he tells me the email address for the order doesn't match the one I gave him. He tells me he'll elevate the case to their fraud team. He wouldn't tell me what email address was associated with the order.

I call Citibank which is my CC issuer. I tell them about the XBox shipped to my house and how I didn't place the order. While on the phone, I notice that there is also a $1 parking fee on the same day. That is legitimate because I paid for parking that day. It makes me think that there possibly was a card reader on that meter. Citibank cancels that card and reverses the charges. They are mailing me new cards.

The whole situation is strange. The only thing I can think of now is that someone got my card number and home address, ordered an XBox and hoped to intercept the delivery before I got home. Right now Citibank's fraud department is talking to Microsoft's fraud department. Hopefully, everything will be cleared up soon.
