Actually all evidence points to my oldest daughter "Lead foot Laura". My wife has reminded me she is mostly driving the suburban these days. She was the sole driver on a new Honda civic and in 14K miles she sent that car to a premature brake job.

I just can't figure out what she is doing.


Usually, rear brakes tend to last almost twice as long as front brakes. However, the emergency brake, generally, only uses the rear brakes, so if the emergency brake is applied while the car is in motion, either by way of a mechanical problem or driver problem, the rear brakes will wear abnormally.

Something like this might help, plus some parental guidance and reinforcement. I found a similar course provided by my State's State Police helpful, for me personally, but you have to have a willing mindset. Driving is a privelge, not a right. Right-of-way is something to be given, not taken. More police officers are killed by speeding drivers than by any other cause (according to the Illinois State Police course.)... those kinds of things:
