Actually the more I think about it, the tall first gear would help explain the really piss poor 60 foot times.

I agree...that tall gear is really killing you.

The S2000 maxes out in 1st gear at 43.3mph, but that's 9000rpm. Of course, this car is just as hard to get off the line quick - either an 8000rpm clutch drop (eek!), or mid-rpm and feather the clutch. Just not much torque down low with a 2L. Still, it can pull off a high 13 run at 98-99mph in 4th because of the short gearing. I've heard as low as a 13.2(!!), but not with this guy behind the wheel. ;)
