All in all I really just want the chip because of the security. I don’t like carrying a lot of cash with me. I hope the Target thing has freaked out the US banks enough to switch the chip cards by 2015 like they say they’re going to.

My sister and her husband spend several weeks a year touring Europe by motorcycle. After their last trip he swore he would never travel Europe again without a credit card with a chip. His worst problems involved buying gas on Sundays. The pumps wouldn't operate without a chipped card. They had to wait until someone came along who would let them use their card, which they repaid in cash.
