Almost everything on their list I read and went "OF COURSE you don't discuss these with people you just met."

I think the reason politics and religion are cut more slack is they are easier to bring into conversation. People discuss current events and while saying "hey did you see the debate last night" or "what did you do this weekend" it's way easier to say "well I support X" or "well after church on Sunday we had a nice brunch..." I mean who is going to respond with "well I spent 4 hours paying bills, and by the way, I owe American Express $14,000"?
