I am amazed (and chagrined) that no one has bothered to answer your questions during all those weeks that have passed.

2) If you buy a stock on the ex-dividend date, have you bought the dividend? No, that's why it is called "ex".

3) When are dividends paid? Most US stocks pay quarterly.
Is it different for every stock? Yes and no.
For a given date, you may find that many stocks pay on that date,
but many other stocks will use other dates.

Do bonds or bond funds have regular payments? Yes
