Since I have nobody (except my wife) that I care about leaving any money to, annuties are very attractive to me. (My wife is taken care of through joint and survivor annuities.) Not only does an annuity guarantee that I won't outlive my money, it is a bet on life. The longer I live, the more I collect, so I win if I live (in contrast to life insurance, where I win if I die). Thus, if a person is in above-average health for their age, an annuity would be a good bet.
