Although the State of Israel disproves that aphorism, a lot of gun rights folks are pointing to ubiquity of firearms in Israel as a deterrent to violence like yesterday's school shooting in Connecticut.

But Israel also has very strict gun control laws.

For example, you can't own a firearm until you are 27 years old, unless you're in the military. And there are strict background checks, rigorous licensing and limits on ammunition.

COnnecticut has strict gun laws.Some of the toughest in the country.


The guys MOTHER had two legally licensed and registered handguns and one rifle which the kid took after killing her.

YOu can't buy a gun under the age of 21 in CT.

So there.

In Switzerland, every male must own and keep a firearm.
