What I see in 2019 annual report:
Before any investment gains, 2019 vs 2017 operational earnings +56.6%.
Stock price over that period, +14%.
Quite a difference.
Understand the 2017 underwriting loss had huge impact. (Removing impact of the underwriting loss earnings still +35%)
A pretty darn good 2 year stretch, with stock price trailing significantly.
Not surprisingly, you have to go back to 1999 to have a year where the stock underperformed at higher rate to S&P. Of course BRKB outperformed in 2000 by 35%+.

Will we see a 20-30% outperformance to market in 2020? Who knows, but content with my significant position.
