Another embarrassing moment: In the 1970s I went to North Texas State University and was in the orchestra. The conductor was Dr. George Morey. In one concert I was playing second chair, second fiddle, which made me one of the closest people to the conductor. My E string broke and that caused my bridge to fly off -- and strike Dr. Morey in the chest. I remember it hit him in the chest on his starched pleated front.

And just recently I relayed this story to my brother who went to NTSU a couple of years later. He had heard the story -- but it wasn't from me.
