It's upon us...ringing in 2020.

I wish you all a healthy and happy year!
And thanks for always being there.

My life is evolving, as I'm sure some of yours are also.

Going to treat myself to:
A new old fashioned clicky mechanical key keyboard.
and maybe
a new TV - a 50 or so inch one. My old one quit a year ago. Borrowed a smallish 30" from son.
But it's time to replace to the same size as I had.

So what are you looking to treat yourselves with?

nag
just thinking about a Green key keyboard has my fingers itchy
Click Clack!

For years my wife watched a 19" from bed. When we moved to this house in Jan 2011 I got her a new flat screen 50" - wall mounted. She had a fit! It's too big! So I returned it (Still in its box) and got a 46". She has been happy ever since. She got an Apple TV device, so we can watch netflix (and other computer stuff). Been enjoying "The Crown". Both parts (so far.)

Nothing big planned. These holidays are kind of a non event to us.

My phone is about 5 years old (Iphone 6) and yesterday called Dominos by itself. It’s doing other glitchy things with the screen so I’ll probably break down and upgrade.

I’m getting an electric foot warmer for the bed.

DH has a 14 year old car with 250+K miles we will go shopping next March. Eyeing a Highlander Hybrid or Subaru Ascent.

Buying another year of college for twins.

My daughters are of an age where they need cell phones; so my wife and I are getting new phones and will give our kids the old ones.

I managed to get 50% of the value of the new phones (Pixel 4...) in service credits with Google Fi, so that will be our primary gift to ourselves...

We are happy to be celebrating another Christmas season and wish you all a very merry and happy holiday season. This year I am gifting myself a Steelcase Leap V2 chair for my home office. Looking forward to enjoying a good, comfortable chair.

I have an old wood and leather chair I got at Office Depot oh so many years ago. It is starting to show its age. Starting? Nay, it's starting to fall apart, but it's soooo comfortable. My butt just fits.

My desk is a 6 foot wooden one, with a big shelf thing on top. Whatever is that called? My CRS seems to be active today.

The punch line is that we plan to move to a retirement community where we will have a two bedroom apartment, so I (Read the Countess) am planning to downsize my office. Panic!

I've thought about this for about 3 years now, so this may be the season that I buy myself a nice 1-man outrigger canoe (OC-1) so that I can paddle whenever and wherever I want. I've been paddling for two seasons with a club (6-person canoes), and most members have OC-1s.

I'll be 71 in March. I'm (slowly) learning to allow myself to have a few nice things.

it's a pretty great thing that you're 70 y.o. and are going out in the ocean on a 1 man canoe !
Life is so much more fun when we can be active and adventurous !

We're treating ourselves (again) to time with family, piano lessons, and regular massages. Family gifts will probably be books and socks for me, a sweater and Airpods for DH.

ThyPeace, the treats are expensive. The gifts are not. Which is an interesting result of the "service" economy. Something that requires 1-1 time with another human is remarkably costly these days. And I'm glad to be able to pay it so that someone else can have a living wage.

I got my TV.
But had to investigate to figure out how I was going to
be able to use it on my TV stand.
I posted it on LBYM.

I love this TV.

The various buying "for ourselves part" is interesting.

Glad for all.

nag

buying for me because I can
and that's ok. I know my limits.

I just wanted to say that I took delivery of a new Kahele OC1 yesterday. I was even able to secure a space in the canoe rack at the club, which is a 15-minute walk from our Waikiki apt. This is a very big deal for me, and it took a fair amount of conversation with myself to convince me to go ahead and do it. I've got appointments today, but I plan to take it out on the water tomorrow. I'm really excited.
