Another opportunity is to be a Big Brother/Big Sister. With the Child Advocacy program, you are usually involved in court cases such as abuse or parental rights; BB/BS tends to work with children who aren't in such dire straits. BB/BS is also a more intense, long-term relationship that can last long after the children grow up. With CA programs, you don't have quite as long a term committment.

Some other places you might look in your community are working in a homeless or abuse shelter (the latter particularly appreciate male volunteers to work with the kids).
