Another point is that a 9 year old car built in 1993 is not the same as a 9 year old car built in 1971

When I first met my wife, she had a '73 Chevy Nova. She kept that car after we were married and didn't sell it until 1981. The car had arond 120K miles when it was sold and had no major mechanical problems for the entire time she owned it. The only repairs we did to the car was routine maintenanace. We would have kept the car a lot longer except for one major problem: it was badly rusting. Other than that it was a great car at a reasonable price.
