Hey chargin' Fools.

I have held a Bellsouth Visa Card for a few years. I use it exclusively because I get 1% cash back on all purchases, plus I get 2% back on my phone bill (which automatically gets charged to the card). It has a high rate, but I don't care. I'm one of those annoying Fools who pays off his balance each month. Anyway, the deal was too sweet to last. Bellsouth is discontinuing this deal in favor of an "improved" rewards program, which seems to resemble Discover's tiered cash back (that means 0.25% at first). Bummer! I've been searching the web for a similar deal, but no luck so far. Is anyone aware of a good cash back program on a credit card (interest rate unimportant)? Maybe there is a FAQ or a web page, or maybe one of you have a sweet deal right now? I'd much appreciate getting pointed in the right direction.

Thanks!

The GE Rewards MasterCard rebates cash, on a tiered system, starting at 1% with an additional 0.5% for every $2000 charged, max at $10000. 800-437-3927. www.bankrate.com refers to an annual fee if no balance is carried, but when I applied about three weeks ago, I was told the GE is not charging that fee any more. I just started using the card two days ago and cannot comment on the issuer's responsiveness.

I have a similar deal to your old one (Bell Atlantic Visa). But instead of cash, when I accumulate $20, I get a check payable to Bell Atlantic to use against my phone bill. I too use the card exclusively unless I need to spread around a bit.

It would definitely bum me out to lose this deal. Now you have me worried ;-)

The following website has lots of information for annoying fools (me too!) who pay our balances every month and want to get something back from the credit card companies:

Enjoy!

Try the Shell card. They recently changed their policy. You get free gas (no cash). They rebate you 5% on all Shell purchases, and 1% on everything else.
