Oil prices have been highly cyclical for 180 years. Is this a time to buy or do you think history has changed?

Just sent in an order for an optional cash purchase of Exxon Mobil a couple of days ago.

The price of oil has been orbiting between glut and shortage for 160 years or so. I don't see any reason why that wont continue.

People have been predicting that we would be running out of oil soon for 160 years or so as well, when we weren't wallowing in gluts.

We'll all be long gone before any of those predicted oil shortages start taking effect. In the meantime I'm making money while the sun shines.
