Anyone who utters the line "but they have insurance" is telling you several important factoids:

1. They are functioning at the level of a 13 year old and

2. With each claim for property loss, the business owner's risk assessment will rise and their premiums will adjust upward. After two claims, they likely will be considered high risk and so may not be able to buy property insurance at any price.

3. Without property/casualty insurance, prospective small business owners will not be able to get any form of financing for their business.

4. The deductibles on some policies will create a tremendous hardship for just about any small business.

I wonder if anyone has tried explaining this to Ariel Atkins of the BLM?

I have read that some policies specifically exclude damages resulting from riots and civil unrest. Many small business owners have been interviewed while standing in front of the burned out/looted husk of their family business and explaining they don't have the funds to re-open. Sad. Sad for them. Sad for their ex-employees. Sad for their communities. But good for the Democrats, or so they think.
