Arafat was responsible for the failure of the Oslo Accords, not Sharon.

After Rabin was assassinated, Clinton hosted Arafat and Netanyahu where they negotiated for further Israeli withdrawals from the West Bank. Infighting over this implementation brought down that gov't and led to Barak's election.

Barak and Arafat agreed to permanent talks, but Arafat suspended them 3 months later.

Barak withdrew all troops from southern Lebanon as a show of good faith at Arafat's request.

At Camp David in July 2000, Barak made even more land and other concessions to Arafat and the PLO, but Arafat refused to accept any deal except his side getting 100% of the land.

A wide array of leaders and news organizations from Pres. Clinton to Al-Jazeera rightly blamed Arafat and the PLO leadership for the Oslo Accords failure.
