Are you a mining engineer from days gone by?

Nope. A great friend {& frat brother} was Met Eng who worked for US Steel his entire career.
Your query caused me to research the IIT site. Seems this current engineering discipline has "absorbed" the old Met Eng area:

He retired up North, in Birmingham AL! Both his daughters graduated from Univ for FL.

My own BS discipline, FPE, was discontinued @ IIT some decades ago.

It appears there are a few "Certificate Courses" still offered under the current "Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering" discipline.

Thanx for the question, I would NOT have gone back to look that academic stuff otherwise.

a man of years/decades
