Regarding your last June 4 message: thanks for the thoughts. I'm starting to look more at HY issues as time permits. No funds to trade yet so just education for now.

I recently spoke with several folks from TDA. One was a cold call from a Scottrade person (now part of the TDA network) checking on me. I gave him feedback re: my overall experience and specifically bond buying/selling. I then tried to liquidate a bond position via their web site again for two reasons: 1) move out of bonds at TDA completely and only trade via Fidelity; 2) document more details for others.

So I requested a bid for 5 of my 2.75% of 2042. After 45 minutes of waiting for something to show up, a bid finally did (with expiration of 5 pm Eastern that evening). I accepted about 30 minutes after it first showed up but while TDA took my acceptance and moved order to pending... it eventually went to withdrawn status. I called the "fixed income specialist" and was effectively told that the market movement during that "wait time" was not in TDA's favor hence the withdrawal but I was also told that my experience should have been a lot better, faster for a position like that. (Well, my experience the first time I tried to sell was the same - takes 30-60 minutes just to get a bid.) "Notes" from the call would be passed on as customer feedback.

Anyway, I'm glad I have a pretty small non-equity position at TDA. The person I talked to was helpful but overall, their service is just not competitive comparing to Fidelity which is really my only other point of comparison. (Well, ZD was better too.) I'll have to agree that for analysis, while Fido is better than TDA, I can see that there is room for improvement. That's probably where E*Trade comes in. Again, thanks for the input.
