As a dual citizen, I carry a Costa Rican national identity card. It's a very convenient form of ID for all purposes when I am there. To get it I had to spend about 20 minutes with some very polite officials and buy a couple of tax stamps for the equivalent of about 25 cents.

Free would be even better. When I hear about an ID system for the U.S. that is nationwide, free, convenient, and usable for all identification purposes, I will support it. But ID schemes plainly designed to suppress voting don't meet that description.

I agree 100%
