As a survivor of early young life neglect, my parents always had full dentures, upper, lower since before I came along AFAIK, I do 3/year... So no early training, late into life to ever see a dentist, bad habits, many sleepless nights, painful toothaches, and eventual losses as they were too far gone, and I'd escaped the barbaric DDS of my teens... Eventually stable, eventually great dentists, bridges, crowns, and protective of the few anchors left.. Twice a year wasn't doing the job, Gingivectomies, bone grafts and here we are, 3 times a year, stable for several years now...

Insurance covers twice, we pick up the 3rd one...

odds are it's in our genes, siblings had tough times with their teeth as well, all of us victims of the olden days of little or no care...

I'm sure several teeth could have been saved, but certainly not by the old geezers grinding out a living as dentists of the 50s...
