As for Krugman himself, he seems a little more tied to reality than Glover or MoveOn — and that’s saying something for a man who proposed faking a space-alien invasion in order to overcome opposition to government work projects. In a blog post this morning, Krugman withdrew his name from consideration, mainly because it would “actually reduce my influence”:
He withdrew his name, we are so screwed.

I think given thr rhetoric and promises of this President and the Dems in general there is actually a fairly good candidate, who does understand the approach, and has the special qualities for a financial position in the Obama White House. He is even experience in running programs like Social Security successful for decades(though on a smaller scal of course), futher given his history he will probably work faily cheaply given his close relationship with government.

Bernie Maddoff is clearly the better choice, and unlikely to say no
