At least the clothing is almost all getting reused or recycled.

As for food...on the whole, Americans eat too much and also waste food. A lot of the waste happens before the food comes into our homes, but most of us throw away leftovers gone bad, fresh food never eaten becasue easier to get takeout/eat out/fix a frozen entree. I try to do better...

For lunch today we had a casserole I made from raw summer squash that had been forgotten since I bought it 8 days ago, a leftover slice of onion from a BBQ over the weekend, and the kernels cut off a leftover ear of grilled corn from that same event. Stirred it up with freshly grated romano. Dee-lish! Short on protein, but otherwise a good meal.
