At the least it is an indication that one should look beyond the name of a fund.
I recently saw an article that discussed funds that changed their names usually adding or deleting the terms "large", "small", "value", or "growth". Such changes often increased the inflows of cash to these funds even if there was no change to the investing style of the funds.
