More sickened by romaine lettuce: CDC reveals 59 people in 15 states have contracted E. coli from salad - as they identify one of the farms it came from

The CDC says 59 people in 15 states contracted E. coli from romaine lettuce
So far, 23 people have been hospitalized, two with a type of kidney failure
Health officials are advising to avoid eating romaine lettuce from three California counties: Monterey, San Benito and Santa Barbara
The Adam Brothers farm in Santa Barbara was named as one of the culprits
The strain (O157:H7) is not the same strain as the one from Yuma, Arizona, which sickened dozens earlier this year

Personally, I'd rather take my chances.

The idea of having the CDC screen all our vegetables strikes me as absurd.

I imagine this will again result in massive quantities of food being discarded, when only a tiny percentage may be contaminated.

As far as I'm concerned, we aren't that rich of a society.

We bought, and are enjoying, romaine lettuce hearts from Foxy, stated on the package as being from Arizona and having been harvested after Nov. 26.

I eat raw cookie dough wrapped in Romaine lettuce while listening to "Baby Its Cold Outside".

I live on the edge.

FYI, see; https://www.fox4now.com/news/national/fda-finds-source-of-ta... . On Friday, our local supermarket had cases of romaine lettuce for sale for 3 for a dollar. The packages included place and date of harvest. I checked on the internet and found that it was grown in southern California near the Salton Sea, one of the safe area so I bought one package for $0.34 yesterday.

May unwashed lettuce lurking in bowls be the most severe danger that creeps
or crawls or leaps or lurks nearby.

Read of a bear attack in Pa where a lady was attacked by a black bear - and
the lady's pup tried to help - with both the lady and her dog ending up in a
hospital - but not in a bear.
So may your good news not include bear attacks.

Warrl, oh yes, Dear Santa, please send this right person to me and we can attack(lovingly of course;)) each other in just the right way, over and over and over again, until we are famished(at this age, that should be a half hr...maybe an hr., it’s been a long time. LOL

Warrl, see what you started? My inner wild dog comes out at times...not the sedate wry dog that y’all are used to.

WHAT will the news media frighten us with today! We are confronted with SUCH a risky world, it's amazing that we survive the day!

Of course, that's a large measure of why I have such contempt for them these days.

Not certain, but pit bulls are usual suspects.

Wolves and polar bears are allowed.

Dear Santa, please send me one too. (I was pursuing a 19-year-old college student, but that blew up in my face.)

Not to mention, I had to eat a Chipotle bowl without Romaine lettuce and that was pretty rough.

i have so little...

I don't think I can do Grindr on my outdated little flip phone. Besides, I'm too cheap to be a Sugar Daddy. <grin>

And no, "premature" would not be a suitable substitute.
