VAIL, Colo. (AP) — Resort executives and city officials in Vail are bracing for a bad season with fewer skiers spending fewer dollars amid a struggling economy.

Vail Resorts CEO Rob Katz told an economic forum in Vail Tuesday that hotel bookings are down significantly, and the skiers who do come this winter will spend less money per person.

Kent Logan, a retired investment banker and former City Council member, says this winter could be the worst ever for the town's economy.

No surprises here.
