Does anybody have experience in banking in Chicago. I know Bank One is big there. In terms of opening a checking account for convenience, ATMS, fee structure, interest on checking, etc. TIA
I had a relative who used Bank One -- however you won't get much interest unless you keep a huge balance. You may do better with www.meadowscu.comThey only have one main branch, but they have agreements with other credit unions to help each other out. For instance you can transact at any of these branches:http://www.cuswirl.com/locations/index.htm
Bank One, Lasalle, and Washington Mutual are probably the three biggest in Chicago. There's a slew of others around here too - Fifth 3rd, Banco Popular, Etc..I bank with Bank One. They offer a no-fee w/ direct deposit checking account. No interest, but I have an ING account for longer term savings. I do all my banking online pretty much, and their web site and free online billpay are great. There's also a lot of ATMs in the chicago area (including all Walgreens and Dominick's stores) so I rarely pay any ATM surcharges.
