I am a newcomer when learning about economics.  Better late than never.  I picked up Thomas Sowell's Basic Economics book as part of the learning experience.  Early in my study I realized the great disconnect between the average Joe's perception of how basic economics work.  Further, I am more disgusted with how that ignorance is used by politicians to further their agenda/power.
