Before you reinvest any of your bonds, I would suggest you check out the offerings on TreasuryDirect. I don't know the exact URL, but it is possible now to buy treasuries directly from the Federal Reserve Banks and they will hold them for you in book form. Minimum treasury denominations have also been reduced to $1,000. in some cases.

There is a wealth of thorough information on that site, and excellent links to others.

Also, for yield investments, you might check out Barro's Value Index. I believe that is listed on the Forbes or Fortune Magazine site.
