At the recent DJCO meeting Munger again talked about the
importance of fishing where the fish are and acknowledged
Li Lu who was in attendance and who handles his Chinese
investments.

Not to sound like an undertaker during the plague but it
strikes me like this would be the perfect time to allow
Li Lu to manage a slice of the $128 billion in cash for
investments in China. It would show support for a country
facing very difficult times and would officially bring into
the BRK fold somebody who Munger speaks very
highly of and also someone who handles a significant portion
of Munger's portfolio.

As I recall during the contest to bring in outside money managers
WEB originally wanted 3 people but stopped at 2 with Todd & Ted.

Whether Li Lu would want the job is another thing but at 53
years old and given his close relationship with Charlie it
would seem that a trusted fisherman and a big BRK wallet would
be a natural fit.

Any thoughts?

I like the idea on first impressions, strictly from your post, though I know nothing about Lu.

Personally, I don't invest much or like China. The government can change the rules any time and the foreign ownership is something they hate. There are so many opportunities to invest in the world. My 2 cents stay away from China.

In what alternative universe should WEB show support for China WITH OUR MONEY?

This sounds like a bad joke.

Mungers willful blindness and apologies for the Communist dictatorship is beyond embarrassing. He takes perverse pleasure from praising the Chinese system and disparaging the USA. Frankly at 96 he really should have retired as Vice-Chairman. His old role as the Abombinable No man would have been useful in blocking the debt leveraged fiasco of the Kraft takeover.
