Hi,
I just realize that Roth IRA is much complex than 401k. I want to know how is the best way to invest in IRA. For 401k, they told me that the best is index fund. I read the section in IRA but they don't say anything about what's the best to buy in IRA.
Thanks. Bye.

winstock,

There probably is no single "best" investment to put in an IRA--it depends on personal situation i.e. risk tolerance, time horizon, personal preference, etc. An index fund is usually a good place to start. As time goes on and you accumulate more money, you can branch into individual stocks, sector funds, international, etc. That's the beauty of a Roth IRA--you can craft together a nice mix of investments over time without having to worry about taxes.

I would recommnend you open the Roth through a broker that offers as wide an assortment of investments choices as possible, to give you the maximum flexibility to diversify over time.

Research and become as knowledgeable as possible about the various types of investments.
