BHM writes: Not every miner will have the wherewithal to pick up his household and relocate or to learn a new skill at age 60. And if too many do move to take the jobs, there were be whole towns and counties in Appalachia and other areas that will be devastated.


BHM has his facts wrong:

The average employee age for coal miners is 44.1 years. The coal miner workforce reached a whopping 51,000 in 2020! The most common race/ethnicity among coal miners is White.

Only 5% of coal miners are at least 60 years old - whopping 2500 people.
