There are many convincing arguments why you should own this stock.  These reasons include: Buffet owns it, it pays a big dividend, it has a monopoly and in the largest growing economy in the world, it's in solid financial shape and it's fairly priced compared to earnings.

Despite all these upsides, I'm giving this one a big thumbs down for one reason: KARMA.  This company indirectly supports genocide.  No investor should carry that weight on their portfolio...A huge downward spiral might not happen today, tomorrow or the next but it will happen.  It might not even happen to PTR but to another stock in your portfolio.

If you feel like your portfolio needs some good karma you can sign a petition expressing your discontent w/ companies who are making investments in Darfur:

Or you can send Mr. Buffet a letter.  His address at Berkshire is

1440 Kiewit Plaza
Omaha, NE 68131

I’m sending Mr. Buffet a letter this week telling him that I refuse to buy Berkshire stock until he closes his position in PTR (which is really frustrating for me because I’ve wanted buy a B share for a long time and haven’t been able to afford it until now).

Anyway if you wanna learn or do more a solid google search will be able to help you out.  I hope I don’t offend anybody, I’m just trying raise awareness and do what I think is right. Happy investing, Chandler
